RED ALERT: AUTHORITIES START CONFISCATING GUNS FROM LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS

When Donald Trump took office, many assumed that the push for gun control would come to a screeching halt. Sadly, this turned out not to be the case, as gun owners just woke up to horrifying news about their Second Amendment rights.

The Daily Caller reported that law enforcement in Hawaii has just asked medical marijuana users to “voluntarily surrender” firearms due to their medicinal status. This would be the first time a law enforcement entity in the United States has moved to confiscate guns from cannabis patients.

Those who use marijuana in Hawaii will be expected to turn over all firearms and ammunition to the state within 30 days of receiving the notice, according to a letter signed by police chief Susan Ballard. Hawaii’s first medical marijuana dispensary opened in August, yet federal law prevents patients who ingest cannabis from owning a firearm. The government still categorizes marijuana as a Schedule I drug, meaning it is considered to be in the same league as heroin and ecstasy.

Back in 2011, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) issued a letter stating that there will be no exceptions for weed users with regard to gun ownership, even though twenty-nine states and Washington, D.C., have passed laws to legalize cannabis for medical or recreational use.

“Any person who uses or is addicted to marijuana, regardless of whether his or her State has passed legislation authorizing marijuana use for medicinal purposes, is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance, and is prohibited by Federal law from possessing firearms and ammunition,” the letter stated.

Last year, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments against laws prohibiting medical marijuana patients from owning a gun. The court ended up ruling in favor of the U.S. government, stating that restrictions did not infringe upon patients’ second amendment rights because cannabis was found to cause”irrational or unpredictable behavior.”

Clearly, liberals are trying to use their push for the legalization of marijuana as an excuse to strip Americans of their Second Amendment rights. What do you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
