Liberals in Chicago, Illinois have put in place some of the strictest gun laws in the country in place there. However, this has done nothing to lower the gun crime rate in the mid-western city. Instead, Chicago has one of the highest murder rates in the nation.

The ineffectiveness of these gun control laws was proven once again this past weekend, when five people were killed and 31 were injured in shootings across Chicago.

ABC 7 reported that a triple homicide took place on Saturday night at around 11:40pm in the Far South Side Roseland neighborhood. Two women and a man were standing behind a parked vehicle when two people came out of an alley and opened fire on them, killing all three.

The victims have been identified as Tyson White, 36, Jacquell Mosley, 26, and Dominic N. Morris, 30.

Steven Reid, 22, was found dead by police with a gunshot wound to the head in the Roseland neighborhood at around 8pm Sunday night. Officers were responding to reports of gunshots when they found him.

The first fatal shooting of the weekend took place at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side. Police found Carlos Cortez, 22, lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

This is just a small taste of the rampant gun violence that takes place in Chicago every day. Clearly, stricter gun control laws are not the answer to lowering gun crime rates!
